Blue Moon Studio

The Venue in Oxford

For private sessions, small weekly classes and regular (weekdays and weekend) workshops, Qigong Oxford is delighted to have access to the lovely, newly built Blue Moon Studio.

Blue Moon Studio is a quiet and secluded space located on Shotover Hill just outside Oxford. The studio has a glass wall and glass roof, allowing in natural light and views of the sky and hills, the sun, the rain and the fog. Underfoot is a natural oak floor for comfortable standing and stepping. Two doors lead to the garden down some steps, beside sheep paddocks and woods.

There is a long-standing tradition in China to practice Tai Chi and Qi Gong outdoors; ideally, somewhere with trees, earth, and of course water. This is considered helpful in deepening one's practice, to understand one's own place in nature, and the world as a whole.

British weather isn't always conducive to outdoor practice, what with all the rain. So the Blue Moon Studio is a perfect place to enjoy the power of nature without the wind or wet or cold directly on the body.

Although Qigong and Tai Chi is about knowledge of one's body and of the self, this cannot be taken out of the bigger context of the world we live in. A quiet, soothing, and nurturing place to practice is hugely beneficial to improvement of one's skills and understanding.

Regular workshops for beginners, improvers, and mixed level groups provide the opportunity to deepen and enjoy your practice.

After Dark Class

In-Person After Dark classes will be held once a month, on a Friday evening (dates to be announced).

This is a one-and-a-half session which will be held in the studio by lantern light.  There is a tradition to practice at the full moon, and the lanterns add a colourful and soothing atmosphere for a unique experience.  Forms and level of practice will vary, so please inquire.

For information on this session, see 'Workshops' tag above.
